This print comes from a paint sketch that came from a plein air paint day with a friend out at the Ocoee River in 2015. I had set out to capture much more of this great scene at the 'double suck" rapid, but as I tried to sketch in this scene and capture all the compositional elements in the fading early evening light, a massive headache set in, set upon crushing me in it's grips, so we had to stop and head back home. However, I never felt like I needed to go any further with it. It was a perfectly imperfect capturing of that moment. Sometimes it's like that. And sometimes I have trouble moving things beyond the sketch stage. Something about sepia just seems right to me sometimes.
